I’m very pleased that FoundPress Quarterly will be featuring my short story The Devil and the Deep this month. In fact, let’s call it a tale. Or perhaps a short fantasy.
It features a bumbling Everyman and an old Boatman you likely would not wish to go sailing with. When I submitted this piece to a literary magazine, it was returned with the editor’s comment, “There is no character in this story.” Well, right. There is no character. There is setting—lashes of it—and there are ideas. But character? You, the reader. You are the character. And resolution? Does it have resolution? That will be for you to decide.
FoundPress is a neat site for fiction. Featuring all sorts of writers you’ll love. Here it is.
